Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames, furniture).
Diet & Feeding
Obligate blood feeders, primarily feeding on humans but also other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include physical reactions to bites (itching, welts), psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to humans.
