Indoor environments, specifically within crevices of beds, mattresses, furniture, and behind wallpaper in human dwellings.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal for each life stage transition.
Risks & Benefits
High risk of causing itchy welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. While not known to transmit diseases, they are major household pests that are difficult and expensive to eradicate. They offer no known ecosystem benefits in human habitats.
