Diet & Feeding

Feeds primarily on microscopic mold, fungi, algae, and organic starches like book glue or grain paste.

Behavior Patterns

They are wingless, soft-bodied insects that prefer dark areas. They reproduce rapidly in high-humidity environments through hemimetabolous metamorphosis.

Risks & Benefits

They do not bite humans or pets and are generally harmless to health, but high numbers can contaminate food products or indicate hidden moisture and mold issues in the home.
