Varied Carpet Beetle

Commonly found indoors in homes, specifically in carpets, upholstered furniture, and closets. Outdoors, they are found on flowering plants.

Adults primarily feed on pollen and nectar. Larvae feed on natural fibers, dried animal products, wool, silk, feathers, and dead insects.

They undergo complete metamorphosis. The larval stage is the most destructive period. Adults are attracted to light and are often seen near windows during spring.

A significant household pest that can damage textiles and stored goods. Larval hairs can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
