Natural Habitat

Typically found in human dwellings, hidden in cracks, crevices, mattresses, and furniture within close proximity to sleeping areas.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

They are predominantly nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult stages) and require a blood meal to progress to each stage.

Risks & Benefits

While not known to transmit diseases, their bites can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They are major household pests and difficult to eradicate once established.
