Fungus Gnat

Moist environments, indoor houseplants with overwatered soil, and damp areas with organic decay.

Larvae feed on organic matter, fungi, and occasionally plant roots in soil; adults do not feed or drink only liquids.

Attracted to moisture and CO2; weak fliers that often run across surfaces or hover near light sources and soil.

Harmless to humans as they do not bite; however, larvae can damage plant root systems and the adults are considered a nuisance pest in homes.
