Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, specifically close to sleeping areas. They hide in cracks and crevices, mattress seams, bed frames, box springs, furniture, and behind peeling wallpaper.

Diet & Feeding

Hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded mammals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

predominantly nocturnal, emerging at night to feed on sleeping hosts. They are attracted to warmth and carbon dioxide. During the day, they congregate in cryptic hiding spots.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy bites, allergic skin reactions, secondary infections from scratching, and significant psychological distress mainly anxiety and insomnia. They are not known to transmit diseases.
