Natural Habitat
Found in gardens, forests, and agricultural areas, often on plants infested with aphids.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous predator; primarily consumes aphids, mites, scale insects, and other soft-bodied pests.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae carry a pile of debris (including lichen, dust, and the husks of their prey) on their backs for camouflage and protection from predators. They are highly active hunters.
Risks & Benefits
Highly beneficial to ecosystems and gardeners as natural pest control. While harmless to humans, they can occasionally deliver a minor, non-toxic pinch with their mandibles if handled.
