Known for their distinctive looping movement caused by having prolegs only at the front and back ends. They are active in the spring and can often be seen dangling from trees on silk threads.
Risks & Benefits
While they can cause significant defoliation to trees if an infestation is large, they are a vital food source for many bird species. They generally pose no direct risk to humans.
