Natural Habitat
Exclusively associated with human environments, typically living in warm, humid areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.
Diet & Feeding
Omnivorous scavenger; prefers starches, sweets, grease, and meat products, but will consume soap, glue, or toothpaste in lean times.
Behavior Patterns
Primarily nocturnal and highly social, often found in clusters in dark crevices. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis and reproduce faster than any other residential cockroach.
Risks & Benefits
Considered a major pest; they can spread pathogens (like Salmonella and E. coli), trigger allergies or asthma through their droppings and shed skin, and contaminate food. They have no significant ecological benefit in human dwellings.
