Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Consumes starches and dextrin in adhesives. Feeds on book bindings, photos, wallpaper, carpet, clothing, sugar, flour, and dandruff.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, fast-moving, and avoids light. They have a metallic appearance due to silvery scales and move in a wiggling motion resembling a fish. They can live up to eight years.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans as they do not bite or carry disease. However, they are considered pests because they can damage property, specifically books, papers, and natural textiles.
