Natural Habitat

Typically found in human dwellings, concentrated in bed frames, mattresses, crevices, and behind wallpaper or furniture near sleeping areas.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day in tight cracks and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt at each stage.

No known ecosystem benefits. Risks include allergic reactions to bites, skin rashes, psychological distress (insomnia/anxiety), and secondary infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
