Natural Habitat
Found in indoor human-occupied spaces, typically hiding in mattress seams, bed frames, furniture, and cracks/crevices near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge from hiding at night to feed. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis, progressing through five nymphal stages that each require a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions to bites. They do not typically transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to humans.
