European Garden Spider Spiderlings

Size: 1 - 3 mm for spiderlings; adults can reach up to 20 mm (females).

Natural Habitat
Gardens, woodlands, and urban areas throughout Europe and North America, often found in sheltered spots like fence rails or eaves.
Diet & Feeding
Mainly small insects caught in webs; spiderlings initially feed on their yolk sacs and then move to tiny flies and aphids.
Behavior Patterns
Hatch in large clusters in late spring; to avoid predators, they scatter if the web is disturbed and later balloon on silk threads to find new territories.
Risks & Benefits
Harmless to humans; beneficial to the ecosystem as they provide excellent natural pest control by eating flies and other garden insects.
