Natural Habitat

Prefers warm, humid environments, especially kitchens and bathrooms. Commonly found indoors in residential and commercial buildings around pipes, drains, and food preparation areas.

Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous scavengers; feeds on almost anything, including food scraps, grease, pet food, soap, glue, and even other cockroaches.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal; hides in cracks and crevices during the day. Known for rapid breeding, with females producing multiple egg cases (oothecae) throughout their lives.

Risks & Benefits

Potential Risks: Can carry and spread bacteria (e.g., Salmonella, E. coli) and other pathogens on their bodies, contaminating food and surfaces. Their droppings and shed skins can trigger allergies and asthma attacks in sensitive individuals. Considered a significant pest. Benefits: None in a human-dominated environment; in natural ecosystems, they act as decomposers.
