Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, primarily cracks and crevices near sleeping or resting areas, such as mattresses, bed frames, and furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate blood-feeders, primarily consuming human blood; they will also feed on other warm-blooded animals if humans are unavailable.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they use heat and carbon dioxide to locate hosts, feed for 3–10 minutes, and then retreat to hide. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy allergic reactions, skin rashes, and psychological distress (anxiety/insomnia). While they can harbor pathogens, they are not known to transmit diseases to humans. They provide no ecological benefits in domestic settings.
