Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Herbivorous; it uses its piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on the developing seeds and cones of various coniferous trees.
Behavior Patterns
Active from spring through fall; they are known for their leaf-like expansions on the hind legs. In the autumn, they seek shelter in rock crevices or human structures to hibernate.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite, sting, or carry diseases. However, they are considered a nuisance pest when they enter homes and can emit a pungent odor as a defense mechanism if disturbed.
