Natural Habitat

Typically found inside houses, on walls, or under furniture in warm, humid climates.

Diet & Feeding

The larvae feed on wool, silk, hair, and spider webs.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a flattened, spindle-shaped protective case made of silk and debris. It can poke its head out from either end to move or feed, and eventually attaches the case to a surface to pupate.

Risks & Benefits

Generally harmless to humans, though they can occasionally damage clothing or fabrics made of natural fibers. They are mostly a nuisance pest.
