Natural Habitat
Found in human dwellings, typically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames, and headboards).
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages before reaching adulthood.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include allergic reactions to bites, skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans.
