Diet & Feeding

Keratin-rich animal fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair, as well as lint and organic debris.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae construct a portable silken case covered with debris and fibers from their food source. They carry this case as they feed and eventually pupate inside it.

Risks & Benefits

Significant pest that causes damage to clothing, carpets, and upholstery; they provide no direct benefit to humans and indicate a need for pest management.
