Carpet Beetle (specifically Varied Carpet Beetle)
Scientific Name: Anthrenus verbasci
Order & Family: Coleoptera (Order), Dermestidae (Family)
Size: Adults are approximately 1.7 to 3.5 mm in length; larvae can grow slightly larger, up to 4-5 mm.

Natural Habitat
Often found indoors in homes, specifically in carpets, closets, pantries, and near baseboards. Outdoors, they inhabit bird nests and wasp nests.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on natural fibers like wool, silk, fur, feathers, hair, and dead insects. Adults primarily feed on pollen and nectar outdoors.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae are photophobic (avoid light) and tend to hide in dark crevices, under furniture, or within folded fabrics. Adults are attracted to light and are often found on windowsills.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to human health (they do not bite), but the bristly hairs of the larvae can cause skin irritation or 'carpet beetle dermatitis' in sensitive individuals. They are a significant household pest causing damage to clothing, carpets, and stored fabric items.
