The larva builds and drags a portable, flattened case around with it for protection. It never leaves this case until adulthood. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas.

Pest species. The larvae cause damage by chewing holes in natural fiber textiles like wool sweaters, rugs, and upholstery. No direct health risk to humans (doesn't bite or sting).
