Found indoors in closets, carpets, and storage areas; naturally occurs in bird nests or animal dens.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds on keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, silk, feathers, felt, and human hair or lint.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds and drags a portable, flattened case around with it for protection. It never leaves this case until adulthood. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas.

Risks & Benefits

Pest species. The larvae cause damage by chewing holes in natural fiber textiles like wool sweaters, rugs, and upholstery. No direct health risk to humans (doesn't bite or sting).
