Bird Mite

Nests of wild or domestic birds; often found entering homes through vents or windows when birds leave the nest.

Blood from avian hosts (birds); they may bite humans if their primary bird host is unavailable.

They are active parasites that stay on or near their host's nest. They are highly mobile and can travel significant distances to find a host if the original nest is abandoned.

Risks include itchy skin rashes, dermatitis, and irritation in humans. They cannot survive or reproduce on human blood alone, but they can be a significant nuisance pest in residential areas.
