Diet & Feeding
Primarily feeds on mold, fungi, and decaying organic matter; can also consume high-protein and high-fat stored foods like cheese and grains.
Behavior Patterns
They congregate in large numbers where high humidity (above 60%) is present. They have a rapid lifecycle and can proliferate quickly in moisture-damaged areas.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite humans or pets, but can cause allergic reactions, dermatitis, or respiratory issues (asthma) in sensitive individuals. They can contaminate stored food products.
