Household Casebearer (Case-bearing Moth Larva)

Indoors on floors, along baseboards, walls, and inside closets, garages, or shaded, dusty corners.

Scavenges on detritus, spider webs, dead insects, shed human hair, wool, silk, and natural textile fibers.

The larva constructs a protective, flattened, spindle-shaped case from silk, dust, sand, and debris. It crawls slowly while carrying the case and can pull its head inside both ends to feed or hide.

Harmless to humans and pets (does not bite or sting), but larvae can cause minor damage to natural fabrics, clothing, rugs, and upholstery.
