Behavior Patterns

Larvae are slowly active and prefer dark, secluded spaces. They undergo complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult). The larval stage is the most destructive and can last for several months to a year.

Risks & Benefits

They are serious household pests that damage clothing, upholstery, and carpets. While they do not bite humans, their bristly hairs (hastisetae) can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
