Natural Habitat

Found primarily in Eucalyptus forests, woodlands, and urban gardens containing host trees in Australia.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous. Both larvae and adults feed on the foliage of Eucalyptus trees.

Behavior Patterns

They are active during the day. Females lay eggs on Eucalyptus leaves or stems. Larvae feed communally and drop to the ground to pupate in the soil.

Risks & Benefits

Generally harmless to humans. However, large populations can cause significant defoliation of Eucalyptus trees, which can stress the plants and impact forest health.
