Natural Habitat

Found globally in human dwellings, typically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas (mattresses, bed frames, furniture).

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood during the night.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they are attracted by carbon dioxide and body heat. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive months without feeding.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include skin irritation, allergic reactions, and psychological stress. While they do not transmit diseases, their bites cause intense itching and sleep disruption. There are no ecological benefits to humans.
