Natural Habitat
Primarily found in South and Southeast Asia, inhabiting tropical and subtropical forests, orchards, and urban gardens near mango and cashew trees.
Diet & Feeding
Adults primarily feed on rotting fruit and tree sap. Larvae feed on the leaves of Mango (Mangifera indica) and Cashew (Anacardium occidentale) trees.
Behavior Patterns
Known for incredible camouflage, especially in the larval stage where they blend perfectly with mango leaf veins. Adults are fast flyers and often rest on tree trunks with wings spread flat.
Risks & Benefits
Beneficial to ecosystems as pollinators and as a food source for birds and spiders. They can occasionally be minor pests in mango orchards, but rarely cause significant economic damage.
