Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices near human sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and upholstered furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), typically feeding on humans or other warm-blooded animals.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They leave behind dark spots of digested blood (fecal matter) on bedding as seen in the image.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions to bites. They are considered a significant public health pest but are not currently known to transmit diseases to humans.
