Behavior Patterns
Weak flyers that tend to hover or run across soil surfaces. They have a short life cycle (approx. 3-4 weeks) and are attracted to the carbon dioxide and moisture in household plants.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans but can be a significant nuisance; however, larvae can damage plant roots if populations are high. They provide some ecosystem benefit as decomposers.
