Natural Habitat

Often found indoors in neglected or dusty areas like attics, basements, and crawlspaces; also found outdoors in woodpiles or dry soil.

Diet & Feeding

Strictly carnivorous predator; feeds on other arthropods including woodlice, lacewings, earwigs, bed bugs, and silverfish.

Behavior Patterns

The nymphs have a sticky body surface and deliberately cover themselves with dust, hanging lint, sand, and debris to camouflage themselves as 'dust bunnies' to ambush prey and avoid larger predators.

Risks & Benefits

Generally beneficial as they consume household pests like bed bugs and silverfish. However, if handled or threatened, they can inflict a painful bite comparable to a bee sting.
