They are primarily nocturnal, emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and are known for their ability to hitchhike on luggage or clothing to spread.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy red welts from bites, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans but are considered a significant public health pest. There are no known ecological benefits for humans.
