Size: 4 to 5 mm in length (adults); smaller and lighter in color before feeding.

Natural Habitat
Dwellings with human inhabitants; specifically in mattress seams, bed frames, cracks and crevices of furniture, and behind wallpaper.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood, though they may bite other mammals or birds.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal for each molting stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include skin rashes, allergic symptoms, and psychological distress from infestations. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits.
