Natural Habitat
Found in the digestive tracts of pets (dogs/cats) and expelled in feces or found crawling near the pet's tail/bedding.
Diet & Feeding
Absorbs nutrients directly from the host animal's intestines.
Behavior Patterns
Once shed by the host, these segments can move independently for a short period to release eggs. When dry, they resemble hard sesame seeds.
Risks & Benefits
Indicates a parasitic infection in pets. While human infection is rare, it can occur if a person (usually a child) accidentally ingests an infected flea. Risks include internal nutrient theft and digestive upset for the pet.
