Natural Habitat

Commonly found indoors in dry, dusty areas such as attics, basements, and behind furniture where its prey resides.

Diet & Feeding

Strictly carnivorous; feeds on small arthropods including bed bugs, carpet beetles, termites, and silverfish.

Behavior Patterns

Nymphs practice "masking" by using sticky secretions to cover their bodies with dust, lint, and sand for camouflage. They are nocturnal and move with a slow, jerky motion.

Risks & Benefits

Benefits: Useful as a natural predator of household pests like bed bugs. Risks: While not aggressive to humans, they can deliver a very painful bite (similar to a bee sting) if handled or trapped against skin.
