Webspinner

Typically found in tropical and subtropical regions, living in silken tunnels under bark, in leaf litter, or in soil crevices.

Mostly herbivorous or detritivorous, feeding on dead plant material, moss, lichen, or bark.

They are unique for producing silk from glands in their enlarged front feet to build protective galleries. They live gregariously within these tunnels and can run backwards quickly.

Generally harmless to humans and beneficial to the ecosystem as decomposers that help cycle nutrients in the soil.
