Booklice / Barklice

Indoor environments with high humidity, kitchens, bathrooms, damp basements, or near stored food products and old books.

Opportunistic feeders consuming microscopic fungi, mold, starches, grain dust, and organic debris.

Active year-round in temperature-controlled spaces; they prefer dark, damp areas and are often found in large numbers if moisture levels remain high.

Generally harmless to humans and pets, but can be a nuisance in large numbers and may contaminate stored food; their presence often indicates an underlying moisture or mold issue.
