Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Found globally; primarily in human dwellings, hidden in cracks, crevices, mattresses, bed frames, and behind furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to progress to each instar.
Risks & Benefits
Risk: They cause itchy, red welts and significant psychological distress/insomnia. While they do not transmit diseases, heavy infestations can cause anemia. Benefit: None; they are considered a major pest.
