Junk bug (Green Lacewing Larva)

Gardens, agricultural fields, and wooded areas where prey is abundant.

Voracious predator of aphids, mites, thrips, and scale insects; known as the "aphid lion."

Larvae of certain species carry debris, such as dust and carcasses of prey, on their backs as camouflage from predators and to sneak up on their own prey.

Highly beneficial to ecosystems and gardens as a natural form of pest control. They do not pose a risk to humans, though they may occasionally deliver a minor, harmless nip if handled.
