Bed Bug

Size: 4 mm to 7 mm in length (roughly the size of an apple seed)

Natural Habitat
Typically found in cracks and crevices near human sleeping areas, such as mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and behind baseboards.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous; they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (eggs to nymphs to adults) and require a blood meal to molt into each successive stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions to bites. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known ecological benefits to their presence in human dwellings.
