- Order & Family
- Order: Diptera; Family: Psychodidae

- 4 to 10 mm in length

Found in organic film, slime, or sludge that accumulates in drains, septic tanks, and sewer pipes.
Diet & Feeding
Feed on decaying organic matter, bacteria, algae, and fungi found in the gelatinous film layer of drains.
Behavior Patterns
The larvae develop within the sludge of drains for about 9-15 days. They are highly resilient to temperature changes and low oxygen environments.
