Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly on walls in humid houses, garages, and damp areas.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, woollen fabrics, silk, and human hair shed on the floor.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a flattened, spindle-shaped case from silk and debris, which it carries around for protection. It can emerge from either end of the case to feed or move.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a minor household pest. They do not bite humans but can cause slight damage to natural fiber clothing, carpets, or upholstery if present in large numbers.
