Found in human skin pores, commonly on the face, nose, or back; often found on tissues after extraction.

Stationary. Forms naturally within hair follicles as oil and keratin accumulate. The dark 'head' is oxidized oil (melanin) exposed to air, while the white body is unoxidized material.

Harmless. Often mistaken for parasites (such as mites or larvae), leading to unnecessary concern. Removal provides minor cosmetic benefit but picking can lead to skin irritation or infection.
