Natural Habitat

Damp, warm environments with high humidity; often found in books, pantries, under wallpaper, or in bathrooms.

Diet & Feeding

Feed primarily on microscopic mold, fungi, starches, and organic debris found in damp materials.

Behavior Patterns

Photophobic (light-avoiding) and very active crawlers; they do not fly or jump. They reproduce rapidly in humid conditions and are often seen when storage items are disturbed.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to humans and pets as they do not bite or transmit disease; however, they are considered a nuisance pest and can occasionally damage stored food or book bindings in large numbers.
