Keratin-rich animal fibers including wool, fur, feathers, silk, and felt; occasionally feeds on leather and lint.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct a portable silken case incorporating debris and fibers from their food source. They move while carrying this case and eventually pupate inside it, often crawling up walls to find a protected spot.
Risks & Benefits
Significant indoor pest that causes permanent damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They pose no direct health risk to humans but can be economically destructive.
