Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Eggs do not eat; however, newly hatched nymphs immediately seek blood meals from human or animal hosts.

Behavior Patterns

The eggs are sticky when first laid, allowing them to adhere to surfaces. A single female can lay 1-5 eggs per day, typically hatching in about 6 to 10 days depending on temperature.

Risks & Benefits

No ecosystem benefits. These represent a significant household pest risk. Infestations can cause itchy bites, allergic reactions, psychological distress, and secondary skin infections from scratching.
