Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, woollen fabrics, and hair; they may also occasionally eat organic detritus.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a flattened, spindle-shaped case from silk, sand, and dust; it can turn inside the case and extend its head from either end to move or feed.

Risks & Benefits

Generally harmless to humans but considered a nuisance pest as they can damage natural fibers and silk materials in the home.
