Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophagous (blood-feeders), primarily targeting humans but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge at night to feed and hide during the day. They go through five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt between each stage.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While they carry pathogens, they are not currently known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to their presence in human dwellings.
