Carpet Beetle Larva (likely)
Scientific Name: Anthrenus verbasci (most common species)
Order & Family: Coleoptera; Dermestidae
Size: 2-5 mm in length

Natural Habitat
Indoors in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, attics, under rugs, inside air ducts, or baseboards. Outdoors in bird nests or bee hives.
Diet & Feeding
Scavengers feeding on natural fibers and keratin-rich materials, including wool, silk, fur, feathers, hair, dead insects, dry pet food, and lint.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae prefer darkness and hide in cracks or folds of fabric. They move slowly and tend to curl up if disturbed. They undergo metamorphosis into small round beetles.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Can cause significant damage to household textiles, clothing, carpets, and taxidermy. The small hairs (setae) on the larva can cause 'carpet beetle dermatitis' (skin irritation/rash) in sensitive individuals. Benefits: In nature, they help decompose dead animal matter.
